Visible in the photo are both the Union Jack and the flag of the Kingdom of Italy in the background. Italy was, at the time, governed by <a title="Benito Mussolini" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benito_Mussolini" target="_blank">Benito Mussolini</a>'s fascist regime.
